The White Swan Wedding Album Design

This is one of my favourite album designs. Although, come to think of it, I always think that about each album. Anyway, the interiors of the White Swan in Alnwick are luxurious and glamorous and were complimented brilliantly with the choice of flowers and table decorations.

The couple had chosen the Storybook album which is a 14x10 sized album with 70 photographs. They found it hard to narrow it down to 70 so paid a little extra to have 25 more photos.

Each photo is a double page spread and the faded images are backgrounds which I work into the design.

If you click on the first image, it will preview larger and you can scroll through the pictures.

The text on the final page was a line from their first dance song and is a lovely way to end the album.

Photo Friday #46

I love this little girl who was doing a great job of looking after the wedding favours in this basket. I wonder what she's looking at though?

I Love Lenses - Part One

Longhirst Hall Wedding, Northumberland
Longhirst Hall, Northumberland
At each wedding I photograph, I carry a camera bag and would like to share with you some of the equipment which I have it in. I have three lenses the first of which is a 24-70mm. This is the lens that I use mainly. Good for wide angle shots like this group below.

Crook Hall Wedding, Durham

It's also good for zooming in for natural moments without the couple feeling too self-conscious.

Ellingham Hall Wedding, Northumberland

As it has a focal range from 24-70mm it also means I don't have to change lenses constantly or have two heavy cameras around my neck!

For the rest of the lens series, here are the links.

Wedding bouquet

I was only required at the church for this wedding but it didn't mean that I overlooked details. I still got a shot of the bridal bouquet - beautiful cream roses.

Inspirational shoot ~ A Medieval Banquet

Recently I was lucky enough to be asked by Kerry at Daisychain Events if I would be involved in an inspirational photo shoot. A few suppliers get together to create ideas on a central theme for a wedding, set it up and photograph it. I jumped at the chance and we put our thinking caps on for a theme.

2012 was such a busy year for landmark events but we thought that the Jubilee and Olympic themes had been done. So I searched for any other anniversaries that may have been overshadowed by these events. I discovered that it was the 175th Anniversary of the opening of the Theatre Royal in Newcastle.

Kerry loved the theatrical idea and had the venue Blackfriars in mind for a location. As a medieval banqueting hall, I immediately thought of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and tables filled with food.

Here's what we came up with.

Lovely floral stationery from Jamie at Sweetpea Paper Design

The bunting from Emma Bunting was a mix of medieval flags and delicate lace - to co-ordinate with the lace chair bows from Daisychain Events.

Poppy from Papaver Designs decorated the alcove with this "Love is in the air" lettering and the paper lanterns on the tables were hers as well.

Pretty lavender flowers, reminiscent of the herbs which would have been strewn on the floors of medieval halls. The driftwood mirror was provided by Deidre Foster of Woodlark. The floral vintage china was provided by Daisychain Events and the goblets and mugs by Blackfrairs Restaurant.

All of the dresses and the suit were provided by Mia Sposa Bridal...

...and the stunning headpieces were created by Katy from What Katy Did Next.

Makeup and hair was done by Carly at Carly Michelle Hair and Makeup.

I hope you enjoyed the photos as much as we enjoyed creating them.

Thank you to everyone involved.

The models were Nichola, Prudence, Charlotte and Jon.

Thank you for looking and hopefully I'll be able to bring you another inspirational photo shoot later this year.

Embleton Hall

I love the big eyes of this bridesmaid. Sometimes the natural expressions are better than smiley ones.

Booking your photographer

Congratulations if you got engaged over the Christmas period!

I know you'll be excited about planning your wedding. Venues dresses, flowers...I'm sure a photographer will not be at the top of your list yet but it's worth having a little look around and booking as soon as you can. Photographers can get booked up quickly, especially on popular dates.

To help you when choosing a photographer, I've put some tips on my page Tips for choosing a photographer

Photo Friday #43

Linden Hall, Northumberland

The first Photo Friday of a new year and it's an image from the first wedding of last year. This couple wanted to be with their guests for as long as possible so I captured natural shots of them chatting in Linden Hall's brightly lit conservatory.
